WHAT IS WILD CHURCH?
__

One foundational concept about a wild church gathering is that we are worshiping with creation, not just in creation. While worshiping in the open air, we remind ourselves that we are part of the community of creation; we are not separate from creation. Creation also worships with us in its way, and God is present among us, revealing something of God’s wisdom, nature, and reconciling activity through creation. We are invited to pay attention and worship with an expectation that God is present and active in the world around us, and that creation itself has something to offer us in expanding our understanding of God.

We begin by grounding ourselves in the place where we have gathered, using our various senses, and reminding ourselves that we are part of the community of creation. We enter a posture of expectant worship, asking God to give us eyes to see and ears to hear. Next, we shape the theme of the gathering, using scripture and other readings. Then there is a time of Wandering and Wondering, to ponder, evoke curiosity, and wonder, paying attention to how God has shown up, seeing what one notices or is drawn to, and what one is feeling or thinking. We invite the Spirit to bring inspiration during this time. As we gather back as a group, there will be different ways for participants to offer their observations, insights, reflections and wonderings.

WILD CHURCH KIDS!

During the wandering time, children will go as a group with their leader (get to know Sheila!) to further engage curiosity &wonder with God's creation! Kids are encouraged to wear clothes that can get dirty or wet (you never know what will happen at kids church). All ages are welcome.
