Joel Wallman
Transformational Interim Pastor
Joel Wallman (he/him) is the Interim Pastor for Wanner Church as of October 2025.
Joel firmly believes in advocating for marginalized voices and creating welcoming spaces for every individual to feel at home in the family of God. He brings a wide range of experience through farm & factory work, teaching in secondary schools, and ministry to the next generation.
His pathway into pastoral leadership has been a journey. As a child, Joel was excited to share God’s word with his classmates and church friends. His desire to connect with people of all generations continued throughout high school when he served as the local church youth group leader. Joel graduated from Redeemer University with a degree in Education. He has taught Grades 1-12, with an emphasis in secondary Special Education.
Joel believes that every individual is loved by God and has a unique identity and purpose. He values individuals for WHO they are, rather than the societal labels attached to them. Joel has a deep appreciation for scripture, as well as understanding the context that allows God word to stay relevant with the ever-changing world.
Joel and his wife, Elizabeth, recently celebrated their second anniversary. Together, they live in Oxford County, where they enjoy biking, walking and enjoying a good meal together. Joel & Elizabeth have many years of experience working alongside each other in ministry after the creation of a summer day camp built on inclusivity of all people, teaching values, and sharing God’s love.
Joel brings a playful attitude to various interests in his life such as music, games, sports, and food. Joel enjoys playing string instruments, leading Dungeons & Dragons, and listening to a wide-range of music. Joel has a strong commitment to being a life-long learner.
Joel’s role at Wanner Church is approximately 24 hours each week. His in-person office hours will be on Thursdays from 1:00-5:00pm. Joel will also be working remotely on various days and evenings as his schedule allows. Joel remains bi-vocational as an Occasional Teacher with Thames Valley District School Board, but stays committed to being available for ‘on-call’ crisis pastoral care.
Joel looks forward to getting to know the people of Wanner Church and being able to walk alongside them during this time of transition. Feel free to arrange an appointment, or stop by the church to say hello.
